Ultrasound at 13 weeks pregnant////////////////////////////?

I am 5 weeks pregnant today...I went to the doc on tuesday and he said that he would do an ultrasound at 13 weeks, what do u think...is that normal?...He just did a physical examination and said the embryo is growing nicely...he also said that the only way he would do an ultrasound at this time is if he suspected the embryo was in the tubes....
