I want to go to school to become a Sonographer?

I live in British Columbia, Canada and I am really interested in going to school to become a Sonographer/Ultrasound Technician. I am wondering if anyone here has done this, or knows someone who did. Is the course long? Is it terribly hard? And would you recommend it if I have a 1 year old by the time I start?
Also does anyone here live in Canada...and can possibly tell me where I can take such a course? I have
